The former Leonard Carter house, located at 311 S. Wayne St. in Jesup, is one of four local buildings on the National Register of Historic Places.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Leonard Carter home was built by Mr. Carter in 1902 as a wedding gift for his wife. The home retains its original floor plan and landscape features. The Carter name is on the wrought iron gate as well as the hitching post out front.

The other three are the Wayne County Courthouse, located in Jesup’s Courthouse Square; the former John W.C. Trowell House, located at 256 E. Cherry St. in Jesup; and the Ritch-Carter-Martin house, located at U.S. 341 and Tillman St. in Odum.
