Time to enjoy the beauty of the Altamaha River with the Wayne County Board of Tourism’s Altamaha River Run set for Saturday, April 12th. This year’s paddle will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Upper County/Gleason Copeland Landing and paddlers will have the choice of two
take out points – the 11 mile paddle will take out at Pig Farm (Oglethorpe Landing) and the 16 mile paddle will take out at Jaycee
Landing. This is a free event but all participants are asked to complete a registration form prior to the event when possible. Paddlers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the registration form. Altamaha River Expeditions has canoe and kayak rental for $45 each. Contact them at 912-294-3604. Shuttles will be available from the takeout points with the shuttle leaving Jaycee Landing at 8:00 and Oglethorpe Landing at 8:15 a.m. Altamaha River Partnership tee shirts will be available for $10. Registration forms are available at the Jesup Train Depot or online at the tourism board website. Bring your hats, sunscreen, and snack lunch and enjoy the spring beauty of the river with the Altamaha River Run set for Saturday, April 12th.
